Cecilia Ornelas

Assistant Professor

Cecilia's research focuses on social injustices, cultural awareness, and social engagement, with the goal of promoting understanding and resolution through the incorporation of empathy in architectural design for marginalized communities. She primarily examines Hispanic and Latinx communities in the United States, exploring cultural identity and heritage at the intersection of sociology and design. Her work explores the active role and symbiotic relationship of interior spaces in responding to the needs of individuals and society, as well as the capacity of interiors to humanize and rehumanize communities.
